Among the changes that the year has brought since the beginning of the special military operation, the troop movements are the smallest. In reality, a change on a global scale began on February 24 of last year.
Anniversaries, even if they are as "fresh" as this one, are always a historical fiction, because every outstanding event is preceded by a development. And today we know much more about the path that led to the military special operation (MSO) of Russia than a year ago, and this knowledge is constantly growing.
At first, Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande had confessed that they had signed the Minsk agreements only for the purpose of deception, and US Lieutenant General James Bierman had told how the US had already been preparing supply routes and ammunition depots in Ukraine, yes, the entire theater of war, for years. In the recent past, the detail has now been added that the blasting of the Nord Stream pipelines has also been planned since autumn 2021. And the EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen chatted at the Munich Security Conference that the sanctions imposed on Russia after the start of the MSO had also been in the works since 2021. Thus, the preparations of the West were already completed on many levels when the shelling of the Donbass cities was massively increased in February last year.
It was a well-prepared trap into which Russia was supposed to be lured.
Even in the Western media, it is largely possible to make all previous events, including eight years of war in the Donbass, disappear behind the date from which a Russian response took place. However, this date is historical not because the Russian army followed the Zugzwang, but because the result will be quite different from what the Western powers had intended.

But it is not the development on the front line (which, by the way, just as a reminder, is currently taking place almost entirely on Russian soil according to Russian law) that gives historical weight to that February 24, 2022, but the development in the rest of the world, which has accelerated tremendously since that day. It is not Russia that has lost its prestige, but the West, which continues to unmask itself every day. In addition, the formation of new economic links, new political alliances has taken on a breathtaking speed; as if the beginning of the MSO had been a loud fanfare for the departure or as if someone, like the little boy in Andersen's fairy tale "the Emperor's new clothes" had shouted: "But he's not wearing anything!«.
