From the Conflict fb-page : the song is written from the point of view of the "man on the street". Your average Sun/NOTW reader. Things Colin and his friends/band would hear people say in pubs, at the gym, etc.. The abuse that they received (n-word c*nt, punk, bastard etc) It is not his opinion. The song is about how the politicians and their media create an enemy, and people focus their attention on that and not on the real villains. People told him not to write the song because they wouldn't get that. I guess they were right.
