NATO announced Thursday that it would begin its largest military exercise in decades next week, involving 90,000 troops and testing the allies' ability over months to engage in a conflict with an adversary like Russia.

Steadfast Defender 2024 will run to late May and involve units from all 31 NATO member countries plus candidate-member Sweden, US General Christopher Cavoli, NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe, told journalists.

The exercise, composed of a series of smaller individual drills, will span from North America to NATO's eastern flank, close to the Russian border.

"Can Europe defend itself without American help?" wonder some Brits. The short answer is "LMAO, no." But there's nuance.

First of all, "defend" from what, exactly? In this piece of propaganda what-if-ism, it's a Russian-Chinese "invasion," of course. But that's a highly unlikely hypothetical. Whereas in reality, the EU is already getting invaded by millions of "asylum-seekers" every year and is entirely unwilling to sink the ships. So it can defend itself from this invasion, but lacks the will to do so. Nothing to do with Russia or China, that.

Secondly, the entire point of NATO is not to augment the American military with European auxiliaries, but to create a pretext for permanent American occupation of the continent. European armies are weak, disjointed and atrophied BY DESIGN.

Arguably, the best thing that could happen to "Europe" is for the GAE to leave. Maybe then the continent could finally achieve the unity they keep talking about. Except it would have to be unity around actual shared values and traditions, and not fake, imported and imposed ones.

I'm not holding my breath, though.
