Τότε γιατί παράτησαν την αρχαία κουλτούρα αλλάζοντας θρησκεία και άλλαξαν όνομα; Οι Έλληνες αφομοιώθηκαν από τους Ρωμαίους και όχι το αντίθετο.

O χριστιανισμός ήταν ρωμαική θρησκεία; o χριστιανισμός ήταν μετάλλαξη του ιουδαισμού και δεν είχε καμμιά σχέση με Ρωμαίους περισσότερο από Έλληνες.Οι πληθυσμοί της αυτοκρατορίας συγχωνεύθηκαν και επίσημα - γιατί ανεπίσημα είχε γίνει πιο πριν - έναν αιώνα και πλέον πριν την επικράτηση του χριστιανισμού.Το διάταγμα του Καρακάλλα με το οποίο όλοι οι κάτοικοι της αυτοκρατορίας αποκτούσαν την ιδιότητα του Ρωμαίου πολίτη εκδόθηκε το 212.Ήδη από τότε δεν υπήρχε καμμιά διάκριση.

H οποία πόσο ρωμαική ήταν με την αρχική έννοια του όρου;επεβλήθη εις βάρος και της παραδοσιακής ρωμαικής θρησκείας που ήταν μια παραλλαγή της ελληνικής με παράλληλο παραγκωνισμό της Ρώμης ως πρωτεύουσας της αυτοκρατορίας.Μαζί δηλαδή με την επιβολή του χριστιανισμού η Ρώμη ως πόλη χάνει και το τελευταίο ψήγμα εξουσίας παύοντας να είναι πρωτεύουσα.
